Mental Health Services For Children

The Royal Children’s Hospital has a specialist mental health program for children up to the age of 15 that operates through the Women’s and Children’s Health Network. It includes community-based services throughout the western metropolitan region.

Adult Mental Health Services, Including CATT

AMHS offers services to adults 25 and over in the western and north- western suburbs of Melbourne. They also see anyone over 18 who has had 18 months of treatment at Orygen Youth Health, and is therefore not eligible for any further services at Orygen Youth Health. There are four AMHS within the Orygen Youth Health catchment area:

Inner West

Primary Mental Health Teams

These services support the primary care sector (general practitioners and community health centres). There are four Primary Mental Health Teams in the West/North-West and they correspond to the same geographical regions as the Adult Area Mental Health Services (see above). Other important sources of support are general practitioners, headspace, community health centres, private practitioners and counselling services.
